Every person deserves the chance to spend their day in a way that reflects who they are. Soon, more people in Central Massachusetts will have that opportunity.

Later this year, Aspire Living & Learning will open the doors to a brand-new, 10,000-square-foot location in Leominster, Massachusetts. This will be Aspire’s second site in the state, and more importantly, a new place where people with intellectual and developmental disabilities can explore their interests, build meaningful connections, and shape the kind of day that reflects who they are.

This site was created with choice, connection, and personal growth at its heart. Whether someone wants to volunteer, build independent living skills, connect with their community, or simply spend time doing what brings them joy, they will find the support and flexibility to make it happen.

“We’re opening more than just a building,” said Steve Mendoza, senior director of program operations in Massachusetts. “We’re creating a space where people get to shape their own routines, follow their interests, and grow in ways that matter to them.”

From the beginning, the planning process has been guided by the people who matter most. Self-advocates, families, and community partners shared their hopes and insights, helping to ensure that the space feels welcoming, empowering, and truly person-centered.

Thanks to the support of two generous community funders, the site will also launch a new program focused on wellness and connection. The Community Foundation of North Central Massachusetts awarded a $5,000 grant, and the Avidia Bank Charitable Foundation contributed $2,500 to support Operation Health and Well Being. This initiative will offer daily movement and twice-weekly cooking sessions that promote confidence, healthy habits, and social connections.

Because of this support, people will arrive on day one to find a space already filled with energy, encouragement, and meaningful opportunities to engage with others.

“We are so grateful to both organizations for recognizing the value of this work and helping us create opportunities that bring joy and purpose to each day,” said Rebecca Hamilton, Aspire’s chief of adult services. “This new site is more than expanding services. It is about deepening our commitment to supports that reflect each person’s vision for their life. Every decision we make is shaped by the voices of the people we support, and this expansion is a direct result of listening, learning, and leading with purpose.”

This Leominster location will also grow in the future. Plans are already underway to expand the site to include children’s behavioral health services, strengthening Aspire’s continuum of care and extending our support across age groups.

Aspire is proud to grow alongside the Leominster community and grateful to our partners who share our belief in what’s possible. We’re excited to open a space where people can dream big, build strong relationships, and thrive in their community.
